After 41 years of commitment and dedicated service, Brad Ackehurst has decided to retire from his position as Operations Director with Fantech.

Brad’s journey with Fantech is both incredible and inspiring. He joined the business as an apprentice, and through hard work and loads of passion for the business, Brad become a key leader within the organisation. Over the years Brad played a pivotal role in establishing and developing our manufacturing operations, and helped to shape the operational capability and capacity that underpins Fantech Group today.

Brad had been an integral part of Fantech’s progress for over four decades and played a significant role in shaping the organisation we see today. Throughout his career with Fantech he provided exceptional leadership across the operations functions, and was instrumental in many key milestones, including leading three major site relocations, championing the adoption of Lean Manufacturing and playing a key role in the acquisition of Burra Steel. He also played a key part in the development and implementation of Fantech’s internally developed production planning software which has advanced the visibility and scheduling ability within manufacturing.

But Brad’s achievements go beyond operations. He played a crucial role in guiding the development of the Blue Rhino centrifugal range, and in 2012 was also part of the team that helped achieve Fantech’s induction into the Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame.

In addition to these accomplishments, Brad has been a respected leader and colleague whose experience and commitment to the business had a lasting impact on many people across the organisation. He always took a special interest in listening and taking in the ideas and opinions of others that could lead to greater efficiencies in the operations function. For many years Brad’s passion for mentoring and developing those around him was significant. He generously shared his knowledge and experience with his team and many others across the organisation.
