Fantech introduces the next generation of intelligent Variable Air Volume Rickard Diffusers. Designed to provide occupants with optimal thermal comfort, they are now easier and quicker to install, include more features as standard and can seamlessly operate through the Rickard’s MLM software or via a BMS.
This next generation of Rickard VAV diffusers has been engineered to provide an easier “plug and play” installation system with a simplified and more robust design. The master and slave controller, as well as the sensor board, have been integrated into a single unit, reducing the need for cables and connectors between them and decreasing the number of PCBs from 4 to 2.
Most upgrades to Rickard diffusers have been included as standard to all electronic units, including the square, circular and swirl ceiling diffusers, as well as the linear slot, and bulkhead models. Upgrades on electronic diffusers include:
- On-board Master Controller. All diffusers include an on-board master controller that uses the MLM software to control the air flow based on supply air temperature, room temperature, and occupancy.
- Simplified plug-n-play system. A single daisy-chained, inter-diffuser network cable provides power and communication to all diffusers from a central online system. Each diffuser includes an RJ45 terminal for an option decentralised thermostat.
- Reduced Commissioning Time. In most applications Rickard diffusers are set as masters since it’s generally preferred to have individual thermal monitoring and control at each outlet. By default, all diffusers are set to master mode and will automatically assign themselves to their zone when powered up. Diffusers can be easily assigned as a slave through the Rickard MLM software.
- Supply Air Sensor. Air Sensor is mounted at the neck of the diffuser to monitor supply air for automatic heating and cooling mode changeover.
- Built to Last. Diffusers feature a robust, powder-coated metal construction. The diffuser interface board is protected with a metal cover and hard-mounted to the diffuser body.
Square, circular and swirl ceiling diffusers also feature onboard occupancy sensing as standard and can be controlled via the Rickard MLM software. The plastic trim mount on the square and round ceiling diffusers has also been replaced with a metal mounting system that improves the stability of the trim plate and ensures it remains secure during installation.
