WITH a pressure drop of only 3Pa at up to 100 L/s,
Fantech’s new Smooth Flow Backdraft Damper overcomes the issue of
backdraft in bathrooms, or anywhere that windshear is a problem,
without a significant effect on the performance of the exhaust system.
In extreme cases, windshear has been responsible for
fan failures when they are turned on while rotating backwards due
to backdraft. While spring loaded butterfly dampers have been used
for many years, the pressure drop created by them is high so they
severely diminish the capacity of small in-line fans commonly used
in apartments and hotels where space is limited.
With a low pressure drop, as shown in Fig. 2, the
patented Smooth Flow Backdraft Damper is the ideal solution to prevent
backdraft and the problems caused by windshear while still allowing
you to provide the best ventilation system possible. They also satisfy
the energy efficiency provision as stated in Part J3.5 of the Building
Code of Australia 2006. The damper is easy to install, suits 150mm
diameter duct, and is suitable for bathrooms, en-suites and laundries.
