Major Air a great concept ![]() The happy team at Major Air – Travis Eastley (left), Rhys Bennett and Kane Brewer. FROM its base in Launceston, Major Air has built a strong reputation throughout Tasmania for its customer service, product range and experience. And when it comes to industry knowledge, Rhys Bennett, one of the founders of Major Air, certainly has the score on the board. In April, he backed up his diploma in Mechanical Engineering by celebrating 20 years in the industry. “The secret to our success has been to build long-term relationships with our customers and suppliers to the mutual benefit of all parties,” said Rhys. “The key is good communication.” Rhys began as a storeman with the company which was then called Douglas & Fraser, and later owned by Kelair Pumps. He then successfully moved into internal sales and onto a sales engineer role. Ultimately, he could see the opportunity for business expansion and five years ago it was mutually agreed to form Major Air and split the product and services range. “We took the air handling component of the business, while Kelair concentrated on their core pump business,” Rhys said. Another Kelair employee, Travis Eastley, joined Rhys in the launch of Major Air and the company has not looked back since, being involved in major projects right across the State. Travis, handling Internal Sales/Customer Service, has been involved in the mechanical service industry for 12 years and says that one of their winning features has been their flexibility. “We work well as a team and share the load, so a customer will find that we are with them right from the initial processing of the order, through delivery, installation, start-up and processing of the account,” he said. “They get very personal treatment and appreciate that.” Sales Engineer Kane Brewer, who joined Major Air from WA
two years ago, keeps up links with current and potential clientele. “Regular
contact with our customers is one of the best ways to ensure success,”
Kane said. |
